CROSS-COUNTRY JUNIOR/U 23 WORLD SKI CHAMPI

The 2025 Junior & Under23 World Championships (JWSC) is tagged Bergamo-Schilpario. From February 3 to 9,the rainbow event will involve cross-country skiers from all over the world. Theater of the world challenges will be the unique and inimitable “Pista degli Abeti” in Schilpario, a symbolic structure in the region for the practice of Nordic skiing. For the occasion, the facility will be upgraded and completed with a ski room, a test slope and a series of ancillary services to make the facility even more performant. Upgrade made possible thanks to the important economic support of Regione Lombardia. Bergamo's will be the fifth Italian location to host a Junior World Cross-Country Skiing Championships, returning to Italy for the sixth time after Asiago (1987-1996), Tarvisio (2007), Malles (2008) and Val di Fiemme (2014). A crucial event in every athlete's career, capable of shining a different light on the young cross-country skiers who aspire to become the Nordic skiing protagonists of the future: from the tracks and trails of Schilpario will pass all the new generation of athletes who will then continue their careers between World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Games. And while Val di Scalve, Schilpario and the entire province of Bergamo are preparing to welcome more than 350 cross-country skiers and as many technicians and managers representing 40 different nations, Italy is dreaming big and witnessing the growth of its many promising athletes among whom it is worth mentioning, above all, Maria Gismondi, Aksel Artusi and Davide Ghio respectively gold, silver and world bronze at the past edition of the Junior&Under23 World Championship in Planica (SLO). Carmelo Ghilardi, president of the organizing committee, recalls how, “the Bergamo-Schilpario 2025 World Championships will be an important opportunity for our area to showcase itself in front of the whole world, a springboard to make our resorts more and more attractive by creating stable and permanent benefits not only for the communities surrounding Schilpario, but for the entire province and its mountains. ” Operating at an altitude of 1152 meters in Schilpario will be an organizing committee that represents a unique example of great synergy and strong collaboration among local entities that have always been involved in Nordic skiing in the Bergamo area. The Sci Club Schilpario will provide all its decades of experience acting in close collaboration with the Lombardy Region, the Province of Bergamo, the local Ski Clubs to which will not lack the support of the FISI Committee of Bergamo. Already poised to go down in the history of Bergamo's skiing tradition, the 2025 edition of the Junior&U23 World Cross-Country Skiing Championships promises spectacle.
