In Sicily, particularly in Catania, fireworks play a significant role in local culture, often signaling events or celebrations. Visitors to Palermo in late September can witness stunning fireworks displays that light up the night sky. One of the most notable events is the Festival of St. George, celebrated with grand fireworks and a dramatic procession on June 29th, showcasing the statue of Saint Paul. Additionally, the Carnevale at the end of February features a lively mix of food stalls, music, and fireworks, making it a vibrant celebration across the island. However, it's important to note that fireworks can also pose dangers, as seen in a tragic incident in Messina in 2019.
