CRIS DEVIL "THE UNLIKELY" March 24 - April 28,2024 The Monastic Refectory of San Benedetto Po (MN) opens its doors from Sunday, March 24th to the solo exhibition of the artist Cris Devil "The Unlikely" curated by Zanini Arte, with the Patronage of the City. The vernissage, with the critical presentation by Sandie Zanini, will be held from 5: 30 pm in the presence of the artist. Over 30 contemporary works, including paintings and sculptures, will converse with the exceptional location of the late 15th century, in one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. A clash between titans of art and beauty. The Benedictine monastery complex, of renowned fame and rich history, involved the greatest names of Renaissance art such as Giulio Romano, Paolo Veronese, Correggio, Girolamo Bonsignori, Antonio Begarelli. Today, the contrast between past and future is accentuated in a contemporary key by the contrast between the Renaissance classicism of the place and the ultra-pop matrix of the works. The exhibition aims to be an immersion into the unlikely spaces of the artist's mind, where the first sensation is of unexpected amazement. Rooms within rooms. Surreal settings, rich in strange but coherent symbolism. "Ora et Labora" preached the monks who inhabited the San Benedetto Po complex for almost eight hundred years. Cris Devil works diligently and with meticulous devotion to every detail of his works. An incessant search for elements that settle on compositions in an apparently distorted and illusorily casual manner. But here, nothing is random. Nothing can be taken for granted. The artist plays to overturn the scene unexpectedly. He does not like conventions. He wants to dialogue with the observer patiently, as the monks have taught us. The decoding of the codes that layer the compositions is subtle and refined. The elements of the scene are intimate and personal, the result of the artist's poetic imagination, his approach to life, his passions; but they are also communal, indices pointing to critical social themes of a globalizing contemporaneity, for better or for worse. "I feel the need and duty to involve the public with my art. My irreverence and sense of humor are reflected in my works, exploring complex themes in an original and often provocative way. Through the observation of art, we can take the time to understand significant issues through the pleasure of aesthetic beauty. " Cris Devil Perspectives are overturned to show us this duality between what seems and what is. It is up to the observer to decide how much to immerse themselves in the works to discover something more about the artist's inner world, and perhaps even their own. The exhibition will continue for over a month, until April 28,2024,with opening to the public during the weekends.
