24th Resia Lake’s Race

The build-up to the traditional midsummer 'Giro Lago di Resia' race has already begun: the not-to-be-missed rendezvous with the myriad emotions of one of the most popular events among local runners and others is Saturday, 13 July 2024.The "most exciting race in South Tyrol" will offer its well-established format on the scenic 15.3 km route along Lake Resia, with start and finish in the presence of the mysterious and fascinating submerged bell tower of Curon. The route is predominantly flat, after the start and the first kilometres of the splendid Adige cycle path, we move southwards to reach the village of San Valentino, where once we have crossed the imposing dam we set foot on the ancient Via Claudia Augusta. There are approximately 6 kilometres that follow in the footsteps of the ancient Romans, builders at the time of Emperor Augustus of the historic artery that connected, and still connects, the north and south of Europe, extending the ancient routes across the Alps from the Po Valley to the Danube. It then runs alongside the lake until it reaches the harbour area of Reschen. It is precisely in the final kilometres that an extraordinary view of Lake Resia can be enjoyed, and the most attentive eyes will not fail to catch a glimpse of the submerged bell tower, which must be reached in order to cross the finish line. The main race is reserved for athletes who want to test themselves in a high-level sporting event, while those who do not want to put too much weight on the stopwatch can take part in the 'Just for Fun', which, as the name suggests, is a non-competitive race that only aims to provide fun for its participants.
