Set against the backdrop of the Dolomites in Val Gardena and Val di Fassa, a spectacular running challenge unfolds: 21 km with 900 meters of elevation gain—a course that demands both adrenaline and endurance, allowing runners to fully experience the adventure among these peaks. The Dolomites Saslong Half Marathon is an event that fully embodies the beauty of the Dolomite trails and is set to bring together runners of all levels on June 6 for its 8th edition. Set against the backdrop of stunning mountain scenery, the course takes runners along dirt trails and gravelly, rocky sections up to an altitude of 2,363 meters. The action kicks off right from the starting line at Monte Pana, heading straight for Passo Sella. The route passes near the Comici mountain hut, heads toward the Hotel Passo Sella, and crosses the “Città dei Sassi, ” one of the most iconic sections, before reaching the pass. From here, the view opens up to a breathtaking spectacle, with the Marmolada glacier dominating the horizon. The race then continues on the Fassa side of Sassolungo, staying at high altitude along technical trails and postcard-perfect views that only the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites can offer. After heading toward the Sasso Piatto refuge, runners tackle the picturesque Val Scura, a true natural balcony overlooking the Alpe di Siusi, before the final descent to Monte Pana at 1,636 meters, where a journey of pure adrenaline in the heart of the mountains comes to an end. The ASV Gherdëina Runners committee, led by President Manuela Perathoner and supported by her team, is already hard at work preparing for the event, which annually welcomes amateurs and professionals of all levels for a day spent in good company, dedicated to sports and respect for the environment.
