9th PRIMIERO DOLOMITI MARATHON

One of the most eagerly awaited trail running events is about to arrive in Trentino. The Primiero Dolomiti Marathon, now in its 9th edition on 6 July, has all the makings of one of the most captivating sporting events in the Primiero Valley. On Saturday, 6 July, runners will be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding which route to tackle: the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon is not only for long-distance runners, such as the 42 km, but there will also be the opportunity to take part in the shorter, but no less attractive, 26,16 and 6.5 km routes. The 42 km is suitable for those who do not want to miss a single panorama, in fact, the queen race touches on all the territorial excellences, and the starting stage is the most characteristic and natural one in front of Villa Welsperg, home of the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Nature Park in Val Canali. At the start, the route crosses the Piereni meadows, a magnificent vantage point of the Primiero Valley, with the southern Pale di San Martino behind it. The off-road section begins at the outskirts of San Martino di Castrozza, where the spectacular view of the Pale and the Lagorai opens up. It is at this point that the 26 km will start, a very popular distance requiring an effort comparable to a half marathon, all of which is very runnable. The next destination will be Lake Calaita, the highlight of the event and one of the most photographed places on the Lagorai. A long descent with a couple of hairpin bends will lead to the Lozen Valley and then to Passo Gobbera. Fiera di Primiero will host the arrival of all competitions, as well as the arrival of the 16-km Vanoi Trail, which will start from the village of Zortea. Not to be underestimated is the 6.5 km Family Trail, open to all, adults and children. In the months leading up to the event, the US Primiero is working tirelessly on the preparation of the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon, with President Luigi Zanetel extending an invitation to everyone to participate: "This is a special race that is well suited to the needs of everyone, from the most trained runners to families with children. At the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon, everyone finds space to express their passion for sport and physical activity, it is a beautiful and above all engaging event".
